Education & Participation: June 2024

June 2024

This month has been one of the busiest for learning and participation, from our ongoing work at Hawkswood Therapeutic School to running an engaging workshop on immersive art installations. We've been buzzing with a range of activities!

In early June, we had the pleasure of hosting a workshop with our resident artist Charlie Gosling and Westminster Academy, where Charlie led an inspiring session on portraiture.

A highlight of the month was the culmination of our ongoing programme with Hurlingham Academy, marked by the exhibition "Shaping Spaces Cultural Trail." The students showcased their stunning works to the public, and the exhibition was a resounding success.

Our collaboration with Hawkswood Therapeutic School continues to thrive, with two exciting workshops on the horizon, focusing on canvas stretching and colour theory. We have been dedicated to creating exceptional workshops that complement our exhibitions. Notably, Yulia Zinshtein and Emma Westenberg facilitated a fantastic workshop called "Prompt to Performance," which empowered participants to bring an idea to life as an immersive installation.

Tonight, we are delighted to host the AMSI GCSE Exhibition at our Archway space. Over the past year, three of our resident artists have visited AMSI School to teach students about art practices not typically covered in the curriculum. Now, the students have the exciting opportunity to showcase their GCSE work in a professional gallery setting, with support in curation as well.

Looking ahead to July, we are thrilled about Ed Gray's upcoming workshop with St Marylebone CE School, held in conjunction with our "Shut Up and Stick to Football" show.

As the academic year draws to a close, we are filled with gratitude for the opportunities we are providing to students and emerging artists alike. We eagerly anticipate the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.
